On 17th October 2007, the Government Office for Science launched its finding of the Tackling Obesities: Future Choices project. The project aim was "to produce a long-term vision of how we can deliver a sustainable response to obesity in the UK over the next 40 years." The project gathered scientific evidence from across a wide range of disciplines to inform a strategic view of this issue. Such disciplines included epidemiology, food science, genetics, psychology and sociology. It involved professional and interested organisations within and beyond the Government. The report represents an independent scientific enquiry and does not represent government policy.
