2010 SACN Draft Report on influence of maternal fetal and child nutrition on disease in later life

On the 8th February 2010 the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN) published a draft report on 'The influence of maternal, fetal and child nutrition on the development of chronic disease in later life'. This review was undertaken by the SACN Subgroup on Maternal and Child Nutrition (SMCN).  The draft report is a technical report that reviews the evidence on the influence of maternal, fetal and child nutrition, including growth and development in utero and early childhood (i.e. up to the age of 5 years), on the development of disease later in life. The 12-week scientific consultation will run until 30th April 2010.  SACN has asked for comments on the conclusions of its review before the report is finalised and published with recommendations. SACN has asked for comments on the scientific content of the report only and not on the risk management aspects of the conclusions, as these are outside SACN's remit.
