Nutrition Scientist (maternity cover, 1 year)

A vacancy exists for one year (maternity cover) for an experienced, innovative and talented nutritionist to help shape and contribute to the Foundation’s scientific programme. On offer is a highly varied role in public health nutrition, in which team work, project leadership and ability to keep abreast with developments in nutrition science and policy are key characteristics. The role offers opportunities to engage with a range of stakeholders, including government agencies, health professionals and the food industry.

The successful applicant will be a graduate nutrition scientist with a strong nutrition background, an established track record in nutrition research and communication and at least 3 years post-graduation experience in a nutrition related role.

Excellent writing, oral communication and organisational skills are essential, as is proven ability to critically appraise scientific information and to target written and oral communications to a range of audiences. The successful applicant will demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to translate evidence based nutrition science to a range of audiences, and represent the Foundation externally at conferences, meetings and other events.

A PhD related to human nutrition would be an advantage, as would experience of carrying out reviews of scientific literature, developing online training, working with the food industry, government and the media.

The post is full-time and London-based, and will require travel from time to time. Salary will be dependent on skills and experience and will include a healthcare package and pension contribution.
