May 2023, London: With the intent to support Britons’ healthy eating habits, British Nutrition Foundation, a leading nutrition charity in the UK, has announced registration opening of its annual flagship event, Healthy Eating Week. The Week will focus on providing access to free evidence-based resources for teachers who teach pupils across schools in the UK about healthy eating and lifestyle.

With the cost-of-living crisis continuing to force changes to lifestyles and shopping habits, people have also had to alter their food choices and eliminate certain food groups. This can unfortunately have adverse effect on health in the long run. Hence, this year’s Healthy Eating Week theme is ‘For everyone’ and the resources will offer realistic and adaptable tips and ideas to support everyone in their journey of healthy eating. The suite of resources will comprise information topics such as:

  • Focus on fibre
  • Get at least 5 A DAY
  • Vary your protein
  • Stay hydrated
  • Reduce food waste

Set to be celebrated between 12-16 June this year, British Nutrition Foundation invites all schools across the UK to register and participate in the event. The science-led, age-appropriate resources will serve everyone and will include:

  • Posters
  • Hands-on activities
  • Recipes
  • Events

Commenting on the registration commencement, Claire Theobald, Education Services Manager, British Nutrition Foundation said, “Eating healthily contributes to our overall health and wellbeing, and it plays an integral part in children’s growth and development. Our Healthy Eating Week resources have been designed for teachers and early years practitioners who are looking to engage their pupils in healthy eating. We hope they will enable schools, teachers and parents to have a positive impact on children’s diets and health.”

In addition to registration, interested schools, teachers and pupils can also get involved in raising awareness about Healthy Eating Week by:

  • planning activities with their school groups / colleagues
  • sharing resources and activities with parents so they can get involved too
  • announcing support and participation in Healthy Eating Week on social media

This support will enable British Nutrition Foundation in sharing its resources with everyone who would like to maintain a healthy diet on budget.
