ITN Business and British Nutrition Foundation Announces New Programme Nutrition for Life.

The British Nutrition Foundation is today launching a new programme, a news-style programme titled "Nutrition for Life" in partnership with ITN business.  Hosted by presenter Louise Minchin, the programme is made up of reporter led films and studio interviews. It also includes a special report for the British Nutrition Foundation which addresses the realities of rising food costs for many people and showcases a south London charity run by volunteers providing freshly cooked, nutritious meals weekly, helping people combat both food poverty and social isolation.

In the UK lifespans are increasing but not health spans – this programme looks at nutrition needs from infancy to later life, as well as the challenges of affordability, accessibility and sustainability of food.

The link between diet and health is well known, however obesity in children and adults is increasing, and with it, disease such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease, people are paying the price with their health.  The British Nutrition Foundation believe more can be done, and that starts with supporting people to get the nutrition they need for good health throughout life.  From school dinners, feeding the army to living well in retirement, the programme covers different needs – although one thing is clear, nutrition is for life.

As the cost-of-living crisis continues, it’s harder than ever for people to eat well. We know that nutrition affects health throughout life, but UK diets fall short of recommendations across the population. As a charity, we’re working, not only to provide evidence-based information on nutrition but also to help change the food environment to make it easier for people to make healthy choices.
